“I immediately knew it was perfectly suited for the rugged and extreme conditions of my photography style.”
Growing up in the family photo store, Claes Axstål was destined to a career in photography. In 1981 he opened a commercial photography, naming it Carpe Momentum Photography, with the specialty in shooting images of anything that goes fast: civil and military airplanes, helicopters, ships and trucks, construction machines and cars.
Airborne Flash Photography Axstål has invented a special-purpose flash capable of handling the unique challenges of illuminating extremely large objects at distances of 20-30 meters and more. He has customadjusted his equipment for the special shooting conditions that his subject material requires, such as the need to shield sensitive aircraft electronics from the powerful electromagnetic impulses generated by high-intensity lights. He often uses helicopters as flying platforms, combining natural and artificial light to produce spectacular images and amazing compositions. |
