Leaf Congratulates Montalbetti and Campbell

Sydney-based Leaf Photographer, Gay Campbell, of Montalbetti and Campbell, has been named the 2007 Canon/AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year at the annual Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (Canon APPA).

Ms Campbell’s award-winning portfolio comprised a series of portraits that expressed a unique style and avant garde artistry. A multi award-winning photographer, Ms Campbell was overwhelmed to be named as the winner and said she would share her award with her husband and business partner, Denis Montalbetti, as they work as a team in creating every image. In addition, they won for the category of Australian Illustrative Photographer of the Year. Their images were taken using a Leaf Aptus 75. More from the press release.

APPA is the acronym for the Australian Professional Photography Awards, which are held annually and usually coincide with the staging of an annual photo imaging exhibition organised by the Photo Imaging Council of Australia (PICA). The current major sponsor of APPA is Canon.

The Canon APPA is one of the most important events on the AIPP calendar and as a result the Canon APPA Committee is one of the most important committees within the AIPP management structure.

Australian Institute of Professional Photography
Professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand compete for a number of industry awards by submitting four images, which are judged by a panel of their peers. The Canon APPA attracts over 1800 entries and, apart from the premier award of "The Canon Australian Professional Photographer of the Year", there are a range of special categories that include Advertising; Biomedical; Commercial/Industrial; Illustrative; Landscape; Press; Portrait and Wedding. Each year selected winning images are published in an Awards Book, which is sent to most AIPP members free of charge.
